Day 358/365 - Frozen in Time

I have so many pictures of the kids at COSI, playing at the water table. I love taking them there because it's one of the few places they a) get along, b) can be loud, c) laugh as loud as they want to, and d) watching their creativity at work through their play. We can spend hours there and I never tire of watching them.

Day 357/365 - Pixelated

First I printed out graph paper to try to make this by hand, but then I found this really fun online program ( to make pixel art. I'll admit to working off a sample to make this, but I am going to try some others, because this was therapeutic in a really organized way, and I like that.

Day 356/365 - Lesson Book

I read an absolutely beautiful blog post this week ( on one of the mom blogs I visit. It stuck with me. So much so that I strayed a bit from the prompt to build on that idea to create a book of life lessons for my daughters.

I started this last night, creating a book for my girls to share, with a page for each of the rules from the blog, written in haiku. There were a few I combined and I made a few mistakes in the draft. Which brought me to redoing one for each of them. The finished product was a labor of love, since I used pens to create both of them. I finished with 21 haiku, which hopefully will help my daughters to take each lesson to heart.

Day 355/365 - Half and Half

I honestly don't think I have any explanation other than this is not how I expected to end the haiku. But once I got that far and misspelled something in marker, it's not like I was going to start over when it took me three days to do this.

Day 354/365 - Chocoholic

Wondering how many times I can pass off making chocolate chip cookies for my day's prompt. I think I'm up to 3 or 4. Oh well. Totally legit this time.

Day 353/365 - Golden Touch

Grabbed the black paper, got out the gold marker. Started to write when I noticed someone had already drawn on this with a glitter pen. Incorporated it into the haiku!

Day 352/365 - Girl in Uniform

My older daughter has been on me for awhile to learn how to French broad her hair. I tried to learn back when I was in college. Then again right after she was born, so that I'd be ready. One more time when she started pre-school. For whatever reason this time I managed to figure it out. I found a really good instruction video and watched it as I was doing it. I still need them to hold sections of hair as I'm working, but I've got it looking pretty good. I feel pretty creative when I see the good finished product.

Day 351/365 - Fur, Baby

Appropriated my youngest son's coloring page. I spent last night in the hospital with him. Little dude tried to follow his older brother across the monkey bars and fell, breaking his arm. For those playing along at home, yes, same son that broke his arm this summer, but this was the other arm and this time it required surgery.

He came through it like a champ. While we were waiting for discharge, I decided to knock out the prompt. Little dude approved of my improvements to Captain America. This did remind me why I don't like cheap crayons, though.

Day 350/365 - She Started It!

I had thought to ask several people to give me a first line of a haiku, but I never seemed to find a way to work it into a conversation today. Then one of the Ohio 5 sent a photo of the front door of her new house. That's all I needed to get started.

Day 349/365 - Unappetizing

I have trouble trusting Vegan food. I guess my reasoning is that if you want to eat food that doesn't come from animals, I respect that, but don't try to trick me. That's all I ask.

Day 348/365 - Super Size

Kind of stupid reason to be delayed, but it was valid. I use very few disposable cups. I actually went out of my way to get this today so that I didn't put it off any longer.

Day 347/365 - Outdoor Fun

This one was done from a city park while waiting out a birthday party. I remembered to check the prompt while I was lazying on a bench. Jumped us and made the smiley.

It's not like I could go wrong with anything I tried, so using this swing was easy!

Day 346/365 - Paper Hearts

Yeah, I had to look up instructions for how to do this because I've never actually done it. About two seconds after finishing, my younger daughter asked me to make one for her, so I guess I offically rule at these!

Day 345/365 - In Close Proximity

Another delay of a couple of days because I just couldn't find the time. Then I finally looked at the prompt and saw how simple this one was. Now I feel a little silly.
