I have so many pictures of the kids at COSI, playing at the water table. I love taking them there because it's one of the few places they a) get along, b) can be loud, c) laugh as loud as they want to, and d) watching their creativity at work through their play. We can spend hours there and I never tire of watching them.

First I printed out graph paper to try to make this by hand, but then I found this really fun online program (http://pixelartmaker.com/) to make pixel art. I'll admit to working off a sample to make this, but I am going to try some others, because this was therapeutic in a really organized way, and I like that.

I read an absolutely beautiful blog post this week (http://www.scarymommy.com/rules-for-my-daughter/?utm_source=CM) on one of the mom blogs I visit. It stuck with me. So much so that I strayed a bit from the prompt to build on that idea to create a book of life lessons for my daughters.

I honestly don't think I have any explanation other than this is not how I expected to end the haiku. But once I got that far and misspelled something in marker, it's not like I was going to start over when it took me three days to do this.

My older daughter has been on me for awhile to learn how to French broad her hair. I tried to learn back when I was in college. Then again right after she was born, so that I'd be ready. One more time when she started pre-school. For whatever reason this time I managed to figure it out. I found a really good instruction video and watched it as I was doing it. I still need them to hold sections of hair as I'm working, but I've got it looking pretty good. I feel pretty creative when I see the good finished product.

Appropriated my youngest son's coloring page. I spent last night in the hospital with him. Little dude tried to follow his older brother across the monkey bars and fell, breaking his arm. For those playing along at home, yes, same son that broke his arm this summer, but this was the other arm and this time it required surgery.
He came through it like a champ. While we were waiting for discharge, I decided to knock out the prompt. Little dude approved of my improvements to Captain America. This did remind me why I don't like cheap crayons, though.

I had thought to ask several people to give me a first line of a haiku, but I never seemed to find a way to work it into a conversation today. Then one of the Ohio 5 sent a photo of the front door of her new house. That's all I needed to get started.

This one was done from a city park while waiting out a birthday party. I remembered to check the prompt while I was lazying on a bench. Jumped us and made the smiley.
It's not like I could go wrong with anything I tried, so using this swing was easy!
