Uh-oh. Maybe I didn't think this through...

It's so easy to decide you're going to take on a project. "I'm a creative person. This is going to be a breeze." Then you start to consider the minutiae.

So I went back to the introduction of the book.

One of the first suggestions:

So this got me thinking. What can I stick with? I get bored fairly easily. (Oh look, a squirrel!) That's part of this challenge for me. Commit, stick with it. Commit, stick with it. "Lather, rinse, repeat and lather, rinse, repeat and lather, rinse, repeat. As needed."

My gut instinct is to maybe give myself a different subject or medium each week or month. That way I explore and try different ways of messing with it without feeling like I'm tied to it.

I'm feeling a huge sense of excitement and  I'm already worried I'm going to let myself down. I start to think about what i need to do to motivate myself. Then I remember outside forces have always been my greatest encouragement.

So, back to the book. See this part about accountability? That's what I need from you.

Check in with me. If I haven't posted for a day or two, light a fire under my backside. Believe me, I'll thank you for it later.

So tomorrow, it begins. I know it's contrived to start on New Year's Day, but I need a formality to this project, and opening a new year seems a good way to get that. And hopefully I'll be coming off a sports fan high when my beloved OSU Buckeyes (hopefully) beat the pants off the Clemson whatever-they're-called tonight. (They have a paw print in their logo. I'm going to assume it's Clemson Kittens.)

Until tomorrow...
